Online Shop Promotion Tips
Promote Your shop! Nobody will buy if they don't know it's
for sale.
The most popular question on our customer service line is "How
do I promote my shop?" It all depends on who you want to sell
to, how you communicate with your audience and what you want to
sell. Here are a variety of ways to promote your online shop.
Best Methods for Online shop Promotion
Showcase your products There are two methods to
promoting your shop. One is to create a simple shop link on your
site that says "Store". But here's a question for you: How many
times have you ever clicked on a link that says "Store" without
knowing what's in it? Chances are not a lot. People are most
likely to visit a shop if they know what the products in the
shop look like.
Grab your audience's interest. Incent them to visit your
shop by spotlighting your products. Show off photos of your
products or display the designs you've created on your homepage.
Your images will encourage users to visit your shop to see the
various products you have available.
Examples: Disinformation, Sequential Tart
Create a website community It's important to educate
your audience on the background and mission of your website.
Don't expect high sales in your shop until you've done that.
People buy merchandise from websites because they relate to that
community and want to support it. To them, it's more
than a mug
or T-shirt, it's about being part of your Web community.
Example: Care2, WWRF
Talk about your products and designs Most upscale
retailers and catalog companies go beyond just displaying the
items they sell. Many set the shopping mood by telling stories
about their products and letting customers know about their
origins.
Tell your audience stories about each design. Where did it
originate from? What does your design stand for? Why should they
want to buy it?
Example: MyDogMurphy.com, WilWheaton.net
Basic Ways to Promote Your Online shop
Banners and Buttons If you need a basic way to promote
your shop, add a banner or button that lets people know about
the products you are selling. Need banners/buttons for your
site? Visit our banners & buttons page and you can start
promoting your shop TODAY.
If you plan on creating your own banners and buttons, the best
message to have is to let your visitors know that they will be
supporting your site by shopping at your shop.
